|
Craigellachie
distillery was founded in 1891 by a group of
merchants & blenders which included Alexander Edward.
The
distillery is located in Craigellachie, Aberlour, Banffshire
and production started in 1898.
Mackie & Co. bought Craigellachie in 1916 and changed their
name to White Horse Distillers in 1924 to reflect the name of
their blended whisky.
DCL
purchased White Horse in 1927 and then became SMD in 1930. |

Craigellachie was extended
in 1964 when the number of stills was doubled from two to four
and the buildings were refurbished.
Bacardi Martini purchased John Dewar in 1998 and with that
became the new owners of Craigellachie distillery which now has
a capacity of around 2.7 million litres of pure alcohol per year. |

A very light and fresh whisky, perhaps one for balmy Summer
