Sazerac

Sazerac is produced at Buffalo Trace distillery which is located in Frankfort, Kentucky.

The distillery was founded in 1787, although a more modern one using steam power was built on the grounds in 1857.

E.H. Taylor Jr. purchased the distillery in 1870 and modernised it further when in 1886 he introduced climate-controlled warehousing and during prohibition the distillery was granted a rare license allowing it to continue for medicinal purposes.

The Sazerac company purchased the distillery in 1992 and immediately renamed it to Buffalo Trace in recognition of the herds of buffalo which once roamed freely in the region.

Dram-atics "Advent-urous" live review

Glass: Classic Malt

Colour: Light golden amber

Nose: An immediate burst of finest Italian calf leather precedes aromatic herbs and what I can only describe as lavendar-flavoured candy floss.

Palate: Rich and quite sweet, again with those floral herbs and lavendar, but also wood infused with oil of orange.

With 3 drops of water: A more floral nose with less of the leather and a slightly drier palate.

Finish: Very long and even longer with the drops of water. Also more floral rigth at the end.

Overall Impression: I like it. Most pleasant and enjoyable.
